Must do things in Los Cabos

Only a very few places can compare to the beauty of Los Cabos. Spectacular weather all the year long together with wonderful natural settings make this paradise a dream for travelers who visit. Doesn’t matter if you travel with your family or friends, with your partner or even as a solo traveller.

Los Cabos is an amazing contrasts between mountains, arid deserts and the sea create simply fascinating landscapes, and it is exactly this diversity what prepares the terrain to enjoy as many activities as you can think of. Here is a list of some must do places while you are in Los Cabos.

WHALE WATCHING
Have you ever heard that there are 14 species of whales in the world, and six of them inhabit Mexican waters permanently? The humpback whale and the gray whale only visit these latitudes in the breading season. You will be surprised to see blue whales, sperm whales and even killer whales swimming the Sea of Cortez. Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are visited by these majestic cetaceans between December and until mid-April, for the delight of visitors and locals alike. Some tours include a hydrophone so you can hear the mystical whale songs.

LOVERS BEACH OR PLAYA DEL AMOR
This small and charming beach is located north to the Arch. The exclusivity of being bathed by two seas deserves a place on your list. The gentle waves the beach receives from the Sea of Cortez are in contrast with the breaking, irruptive waves coming from the Pacific —inquisitively enough, this side of Lovers Beach is known as the Divorce Beach.

LAND’S END ARCH
More than 750 miles crosses the Baja California peninsula from point to point, to find the end in this unbelievable eroded rock formation, carved by the sea into an huge arch. It has been adopted by the destination as iconic attraction. Here, the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific are united for the very first time. Water taxis make the journey to this impressive attraction, and you can choose a glass bottom lancha so you can observe underwater life on your way.

UNDERWATER SAND FALLS
Just under the Playa del Amor lie the Sand Falls and, if you are an experienced diver, you cannot afford to miss them on your next visit. This natural phenomenon is caused by the friction between the North American and Pacific tectonic plates and by the contrast between the temperatures of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.

TODOS SANTOS
Delightful from every perspective, Todos Santos must be on the list of places to visit when you travel to this area. It is located between the arid desert of Baja California, the Sierra de la Laguna and the Mexican Pacific, and stands out for its artistic and cultural ambiance. Take a tour of the gallery to admire the works of local and world artists, or plan a day at the beach to sample delicacies from the sea, and surf at Playa Cerritos, or simply sunbathe in Palm Beach.

CABO PULMO
You would not visualize the marine diversity that inhabits the Cabo Pulmo reef if you did not see it with your own eyes. The experience of diving or snorkeling in this protected area of more than 17,300 acres is simply, an exciting adventure. It is also a great success story: All you can admire today is due to this fishing village community decision to restrict its primary commercial activity since 1995, allowing the reef to restore itself from excessive fishing.

OFF-ROAD EXPERIENCES
Since the 1960s, the Baja California peninsula began to figure on the sports scene thanks to the world’s longest off-road race known as the Baja 1000, which runs just over 1,050 miles between the port cities of Ensenada and La Paz. If you want to get the most out of adrenaline in a Baja 1000-style off-road race —without racing all the miles, you can find everything from ATV’s desert excursions to high-speed tours.
